Immigrants Do Not Negatively Affect the Economic Institutions of American States
This paper uses an epidemiological model to investigate how heterogeneously distributed immigrants affected the economic institutions of American states over the 1980–2010 period under the assumption that institutions are highly responsive to changes in the immigrant population. We find that state economic institutions do not change much in response to immigrants.

Immigrants Do Not Negatively Affect the Economic Institutions of American States
We find that larger immigrant shares of the population produce large reductions in the growth of real per capita tax revenue and outlays in the short run that moderate to smaller longer-term growth declines in both.

Do Immigration Enforcement Programs Reduce Crime? Evidence from the 287(g) Program in North Carolina
nder multiple empirical specifications, we find no evidence to suggest that 287(g) programs had an effect on crime rates in North Carolina counties following their implementation. These results hold for simple measures of program adoption and program intensity. Our findings suggest that 287(g) in North Carolina counties did not meet its intended objective of improving public safety by facilitating the removal of violent offenders.

Financing Immigration: The Financial‐Market Value of a Market‐Based Immigration System
This paper introduces an immigration reform idea with far‐reaching potential in the form of an immigration tariff: the sale of permanent conditional work and residency visas that we call gold cards at a price set by Congress.

Immigrants Recognize American Greatness
Based on their responses to the General Social Survey, we found that immigrants and their children have levels of patriotism that are about the same as those of native-born Americans or that exceed them.

Immigrant Wages Converge with Those of Native‐Born Americans
From 1995 to 2017, illegal immigrants initially faced a hefty wage penalty of about 11.3 percent relative to legal immigrants. That wage gap can be mostly explained by their lack of legal work status. Although immigrant wages generally converge with those of native‐born Americans, legalizing illegal immigrants will hasten overall wage convergence.
